Familiar names led by Robert Downey Jr are joining the movie, which is scheduled for 2026

Families are about to have a countdown as the buzz around Avengers: Doomsday has begun. On Thursday, Manila time, Marvel announced the cast of the film in a video on social media.

The video showed the names on the actor’s chairs. Among those confirmed to return are Chris Hemsworth, who played Thor, the Fantastic Four led by Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby,  Sebastian Stan, and Captain America’s Anthony Mackie and Danny Ramirez.

But that’s not all. Some names from the past Marvel movies are stepping in, which millennial parents are so familiar with. X-Men stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden are returning to reprise their roles. Channing Tatum has also been confirmed to reprise his role as Gambit.

The video ended with Robert Downey Jr, who announced his comeback in the Marvel franchise standing up and walking away. The actor is set to play Dr. Doom.

The Excitement Around Doomsday Begins!

Avengers: Doomsday is the first of two films the Russo brothers announced at Comic Con in San Diego last year. Robert Downey Jr. announced his return to the Marvel family when he unveiled himself behind a Dr. Doom mask.

“What did I tell ya? I like playing complicated characters,” the Oppenheimer star said during the panel.

The actor was first known for his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Iron Man later launched the MCU franchise, which include stories of Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, and the Avengers.

Waiting Game Begins

With Avengers: Doomsday now in production, Marvel fans including kids of today and their parents will have to patiently wait in the next months for the schedule in 2026. Marvel is gearing up its next line of films after starting with Captain America: Brave New World last February.

The Thunderbolts are next to be shown in May followed by the Fantastic Four in July.
